What your device sends

Once paired to your account, a ChirpSense device sends two things:

• Species counts — a per-day tally of the bird species it detected (species name, count, date), synced about once an hour.
• A health heartbeat — roughly every five minutes: temperatures, uptime, memory, and network state, so problems show up on your device page instead of as a mystery.

It never sends audio and never sends clips. Listening and identification happen on the device itself; the microphone stream does not leave it.

Where it lives

Your data is stored with Supabase, our database provider, in their US East region (United States). Access is fenced by row-level security: your sign-in sees only your own account and devices. We also store the email address you sign in with — sign-in is by emailed one-time link, so there is no password to store.

Turning it off

Every device has its own sync switch: open the device on this site, then Support, and turn data sharing off. That stops the species counts and the stored health history for that device — the others are unaffected.

With sync off, the device still sends its current health check-in every few minutes — uptime, temperature, memory — so the app can show whether it’s online and its latest state. Only the most recent check-in is kept, and nothing about birds is in it.

Deleting your data

When a device is un-claimed from your account (say, for resale or transfer), its cloud settings are wiped and the next owner starts fresh. To delete your whole account and everything tied to it, email hello@chirpsense.com — a person reads that inbox.

What we’ll never do

• No ads.
• No selling or sharing your data.
• No third-party trackers — the only thing this site keeps in your browser is the session that keeps you signed in.
